Family Promise stopped all Church visits on Thursday, March 12, which abruptly ended our Family Promise week. We had our chefs provide the meals for Friday and Saturday and the van came to the church and picked them up along with all the extra food that was in the refrigerators and on the shelves for their week (two large carts full!). They have continued to house their families in the day centers that they have, two in Scottsdale and one in Gilbert. They have continued to “graduate” families and to intake new families.
With the exception of small children, everyone inside the Day Centers have to wear masks all the time unless alone in their areas with only their family. The churches which had signed up are still providing food which is served buffet style. Families are “camping out,” however recently, some mattresses were donated by a local store.
We look forward to the next opportunity that we will have to host families at Saint Barnabas. Until then, let us continue to pray for them, and keep an eye out on our communications. We will let you know when Family Promise visits us again.
Our thanks to all the volunteers who help us when Family Promise visits. I have had many inquiries about when it might start up again.
