SUMMARY:Food Drive | July
DESCRIPTION:Our food drive collection takes place on the third Sunday of the month. Food can be dropped off in front of the Music Center between 7:30am and 10:15am or dropped off any Sunday of the month. Look for shopping carts in the courtyard! Thank you! \nThe Saint Barnabas Food Drive is a powerful force for change! 🌟 Your unwavering support through food and monetary donations is truly transforming the lives of many in our community. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the profound impact we’re making together. \nIn recent times\, places like St. Luke’s on the Mountain have faced unprecedented challenges. Previously\, their food drives would gather between 7\,000 to 12\,000 pounds of food thanks to the efforts of St. Mary’s Food Bank. However\, due to federal funding cuts\, they’ve seen a sharp decline: only 2\,500 pounds on May 17\, and a heartbreaking zero on May 31 when the truck didn’t arrive\, leaving many empty-handed. By June 14\, only 1\,900 pounds were collected. These are difficult times\, but here’s where your generosity shines. 🌈 \nYou’re not just donating food; you’re offering hope and stability. This month alone\, you’ve contributed approximately 2400 pounds of food and generously sent $4\,500 each to St. Luke’s and St. Mark’s\, and $3\,500 to St. Matthews. This incredible outpouring of love is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together. 💪 \nLet’s rally again this July to surpass our efforts! Consider bringing: \n· Dry goods and pantry staples \n· Laundry and paper products \n· Snacks and meals for kids out of school \nYour contributions have a ripple effect\, lifting spirits and nourishing bodies. Ready to make an even bigger impact this time? See you on our upcoming food drive collection\, from 7:30 to 10:15\, just outside the Music Center. 💖 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEVERYONE is invited to donate! The food you donate will go to the following food banks that all have Episcopal roots:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n• Saint Luke’s at the Mountain\, South Phoenix\n• Matthew’s Crossing\, Chandler\n• St. Mark’s Food Pantry\, Mesa \nWant to volunteer? Click here to sign up. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Donate\nPlease note: small or family-sized canned and boxed goods are best\, not large bulk items that must be re-packaged. \nFOOD ITEMS: Cereal\, oatmeal\, breakfast bars\, canned goods\, canned vegetables\, canned or boxed soups\, stews\, beans (canned or dried)\, corn\, rice\, pasta\, peanut butter\, nut butters\, jelly\, spaghetti sauce\, spaghetti-o’s\, canned meats\, tuna\, chicken\, Vienna sausages\, boxed macaroni and cheese\, whole-grain crackers\, healthy children’s snacks\, bottled water\, powdered milk. \n\nTravel toiletries: shampoo/conditioner\, facial tissue\, body lotion\, razors\, hand sanitizer.\nCleaning supplies: spray disinfectant particularly.\n\nADDITIONAL NEEDS: Toilet paper\, facial tissue\, bar soap\, laundry soap\, and diapers (sizes 2 – 5). At this time\, we are not accepting clothing donations. \nCan’t get to the store for items but still want to make a difference?\nMake a monetary donation at www.saintbarnabas.org/give. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick below to learn more about events at Saint Barnabas \nEvent Roll \n\n\n\nLocation: Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church\n6715 N Mockingbird Ln\nScottsdale\, AZ 85253

SUMMARY:The Image as Text: Faith\, Semiotics\, and Visual Language in Christian Art History
DESCRIPTION:The Image as Text: Faith\, Semiotics\, and Visual Language in Christian Art History\nOnline Summer Series with the Rector\nThursday\, July 23 at 5pm | Meets online \nThis July\, join the Rev. Robyn for her first online “Summer Series with the Rector\,” a three-part exploration of Christian art\, symbolism\, and visual storytelling. Titled The Image as Text: Faith\, Semiotics\, and Visual Language in Christian Art History\, this engaging series invites participants to discover how works of art have communicated theological positions\, biblical narratives\, and spiritual meaning across the centuries. \nFrom the earliest Christian icons and mosaics to medieval manuscripts\, Renaissance masterpieces\, and contemporary sacred art\, Christians have used visual imagery to express faith in powerful and enduring ways. This course will examine how images function as a form of language\, exploring the symbols\, signs\, and visual conventions that artists have employed to teach\, inspire\, and shape religious understanding. Together\, participants will learn how to “read” Christian art more deeply\, uncovering layers of meaning that often go unnoticed. \nWhether you are an art enthusiast\, a student of theology\, or simply curious about the rich visual heritage of the Christian tradition\, this series offers an accessible and thought-provoking opportunity for learning and discussion. No prior knowledge of art history is required. \nPlease note that regular Sunday Adult Faith Formation in Hutton Hall will be on hiatus during June and July. Instead of meeting in person\, Adult Faith Formation will take place through this special online summer offering. \nBecause the course is presented via Zoom\, you can participate from wherever you are. Save the dates and join us on Thursday\, July 23\, at 5pm. \nOnline Information\nFor information about joining on the day and time of each session\, look for the online login credentials in our e-newsletter or call the parish office (480) 948-5560 \nWe look forward to learning together as we explore the ways Christian art speaks\, teaches\, and bears witness to the faith through the language of images.

SUMMARY:Food Drive | August
DESCRIPTION:Our food drive collection takes place on the third Sunday of the month. Food can be dropped off in front of the Music Center between 7:30am and 10:15am or dropped off any Sunday of the month. Look for shopping carts in the courtyard! Thank you! \nIn Arizona’s classrooms\, hunger is a daily barrier to learning — and it may soon become an even greater challenge. \nRecent changes to federal nutrition assistance programs\, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)\, are expected to affect food access for tens of thousands of families in the state. Experts say the impact will be felt most in public schools\, where many children rely on consistent meals to support their learning. Matthew’s. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Donate\nPlease note: small or family-sized canned and boxed goods are best\, not large bulk items that must be re-packaged. \nFOOD ITEMS: Cereal\, oatmeal\, breakfast bars\, canned goods\, canned vegetables\, canned or boxed soups\, stews\, beans (canned or dried)\, corn\, rice\, pasta\, peanut butter\, nut butters\, jelly\, spaghetti sauce\, spaghetti-o’s\, canned meats\, tuna\, chicken\, Vienna sausages\, boxed macaroni and cheese\, whole-grain crackers\, healthy children’s snacks\, bottled water\, powdered milk. \n\nTravel toiletries: shampoo/conditioner\, facial tissue\, body lotion\, razors\, hand sanitizer.\nCleaning supplies: spray disinfectant particularly.\n\nADDITIONAL NEEDS: Toilet paper\, facial tissue\, bar soap\, laundry soap\, and diapers (sizes 2 – 5). At this time\, we are not accepting clothing donations. \nCan’t get to the store for items but still want to make a difference?\nMake a monetary donation at www.saintbarnabas.org/give. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick below to learn more about events at Saint Barnabas \nEvent Roll \n\n\n\nLocation: Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church\n6715 N Mockingbird Ln\nScottsdale\, AZ 85253

SUMMARY:Taizé Worship | September
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Taizé worship at Saint Barnabas on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. | Sanctuary \nExperience the serenity of Taizé worship\, a meditative gathering inspired by the renowned Taizé community in France. Join us for a liturgy infused with the songs from Taizé\, accompanied by scriptures\, periods of silence\, and prayers. Taizé-style liturgy provides the opportunity for a tranquil and serene worship experience. \n \nTaizé worship traces its origins to the Taizé Community\, an ecumenical monastic community founded in 1940 in Taizé\, France\, by Brother Roger Schutz. Known for its emphasis on reconciliation\, simplicity\, and communal prayer\, the Taizé tradition has become a model for contemplative worship around the world. \nAt Saint Barnabas\, Taizé worship is embraced as a way to deepen the contemplative life central to the Episcopal tradition—one that balances scripture\, silence\, and song to create space for personal reflection and communal spiritual growth. The meditative chants\, repeated prayers\, and periods of quiet invite participants to slow down\, listen for God’s presence\, and join together in a shared rhythm of prayer and praise. Through this practice\, our parish nurtures both individual contemplation and the life of our community\, offering a space to encounter God in stillness and in fellowship. \nFor more information\, contact the Rev. Jennifer Tucker or call the church office. \nClick HERE to learn more about Contemplative Life \nCan’t make it? SUMMARY:Wednesday Night Program
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Wednesdays at Saint Barnabas\nFormation and Fellowship for All Ages \nHave you Registered yet?\nREGISTER \nScroll down for information on all Wednesday programs\nContact Sarah Petersen (480.948.5560) with questions. \nWednesday Schedule\nNursery open 5:00-6:30pm \n5:00-5:25pm – Playground Drop-Off | 5:30-6:30 – Music or Meditation for kids \n5:30-6:00 – Adult meditative service in the Chapel | 6:00-6:30 – Adult Appetizers in the Other Cup \n6:30-7:00 – Wednesday Dinner (kid-friendly) in Hutton Hall \n6:45-8:00 – Youth Confirmation for 7-9th grade in the Other Cup \n  \nMusic & Children’s Choirs\nAt Saint Barnabas\, we believe that children of all ages can engage in musical education that leads to a lifelong love of music making. Starting at age 3\, we offer quality music classes and performance opportunities that allow children to learn the fundamentals of musicianship. Our approach is gently faith-based and we welcome your children to join this enriching program. All Wednesday night classes begin with playground time from 5-5:25pm\, with classes from 5:30-6:30pm. \n \n \nMusic Makers (Ages 3-5) \nChildren’s Center Music Room \nDesigned for children to have fun while developing a love for music\, Music Makers is for preschool children. We use developmentally appropriate games and musical activities while learning engaging songs about life and faith. Although not a performance group\, we do encourage our students to try singing in front of a group of friends and family for Children’s Chapel one Sunday per semester. \n \nChildren’s Choirs (Grades K-8) \nChildren’s Choirs at Saint Barnabas perform regularly throughout the school year—usually once a month on Sundays. Both choirs engage in elements of solfege\, harmony singing\, note reading\, and sight singing. All members are assigned a red robe for singing in church. \nAndante (Grades K-2) \nMusic Center \nAndante Choir provides an excellent introduction to choral singing and performance. Students engage in warm-ups and music education weekly while preparing to sing in Sunday church services and other events. \nAllegro (Grades 3-8) \nSanctuary Choir Loft \nSinging increasingly challenging music\, Allegro Choir gives upper elementary students an opportunity to serve as leaders in the music program. \nREGISTER \n\nMeditative Prayer Service and Adult Appetizers\nThis is an opportunity for parents\, caregivers\, and any other adults who feel called to join us to get together mid-week for renewal and community engagement. It is also a chance for your children to join in the Wednesday program while you pray and visit with other adults. \n5:15-5:30: The chapel will be open for “decompression” from the day and for meditation.  We’d ask that socializing happen outdoors or after worship. \n 5:30: A quiet prayer service with time for reflection. Rev. Jennifer and Rev. Robert will pull material for reflection from a number of different sources. \n6:00: Social time in The Other Cup with each other. We will not curate the conversation. It’s simply going to be a time to be together. \n6:30: We’ll join the children in Hutton Hall for a kid-friendly dinner. \nWe are not designing anything that would require you to be at worship or at the social hour every week. Our goal is that this time together will be restorative and encouraging.   \nInfants and toddlers will be cared for by our regular Saint Barnabas nursery staff in the Children’s Center Purple Room. We encourage all children ages 3+ to try out the music program. But if music does not appeal to your child\, we have a Meditation and Movement class at the same time. \n\nMeditation and Movement \nAfter playground time wraps up\, kids ages 5+ are invited to participate in our program that centers on three different elements: \nMeditation – Through various forms of meditation and contemplation\, we invite your young people to think deeply about God and life including guided meditations\, labyrinths\, breath work\, and more.\n\nMovement – Other forms of meditation include movement and connection with the body. Yoga and tai chi are examples of this. Participants will be encouraged to meditate through movement during each class.\n\nMaking – If time allows\, participants with engage in creative expression\, also known as “making.” Legos\, collage\, and coloring will be a few of the options.\nWe are committed to providing a safe space for growth and creativity for ages 5-12 years during this Wednesday night hour from 5:30-6:30pm.  \nREGISTER \nLocation: Saint Barnabas\n6715 North Mockingbird Lane\nScottsdale\, AZ 85253

SUMMARY:Food Drive | September
DESCRIPTION:Our food drive collection takes place on the third Sunday of the month. Food can be dropped off in front of the Music Center between 7:30am and 10:15am or dropped off any Sunday of the month. Look for shopping carts in the courtyard! Thank you! \nIn Arizona’s classrooms\, hunger is a daily barrier to learning — and it may soon become an even greater challenge. Matthew’s. This incredible outpouring of love is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together. 💪 \nLet’s rally again to surpass our efforts! 💖 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen? The Third SUNDAY of every month\, in front of the Music Center from 7:30am to 10:15am. Also\, all year round on Sundays\, look for the shopping carts located in the courtyard.\nEVERYONE is invited to donate! The food you donate will go to the following food banks that all have Episcopal roots:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n• Saint Luke’s at the Mountain\, South Phoenix\n• Matthew’s Crossing\, Chandler\n• St. Mark’s Food Pantry\, Mesa \nWant to volunteer? Click here to sign up. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Donate\nPlease note: small or family-sized canned and boxed goods are best\, not large bulk items that must be re-packaged. \nFOOD ITEMS: Cereal\, oatmeal\, breakfast bars\, canned goods\, canned vegetables\, canned or boxed soups\, stews\, beans (canned or dried)\, corn\, rice\, pasta\, peanut butter\, nut butters\, jelly\, spaghetti sauce\, spaghetti-o’s\, canned meats\, tuna\, chicken\, Vienna sausages\, boxed macaroni and cheese\, whole-grain crackers\, healthy children’s snacks\, bottled water\, powdered milk. \n\nTravel toiletries: shampoo/conditioner\, facial tissue\, body lotion\, razors\, hand sanitizer.\nCleaning supplies: spray disinfectant particularly.\n\nADDITIONAL NEEDS: Toilet paper\, facial tissue\, bar soap\, laundry soap\, and diapers (sizes 2 – 5).
