SUMMARY:Lay Eucharistic Ministers Training
DESCRIPTION:Lay Eucharistic Ministers serve the bread and/or wine during Holy Communion at all Eucharistic worship services at Saint Barnabas. This ministry of imparting the body and blood of Christ dates back to the earliest traditions of the Christian church. We take the Body of Christ into ourselves\, which nourishes us to take the message of God’s love out into the world. The only requirements for this ministry are steady hands for carrying the cup or plate and steady feet for traversing the steps by the altar rail. All those interested in learning about serving as a Lay Eucharistic Minister are invited to attend a training session in the Sanctuary on Sunday\, January 9\, OR Sunday\, January 16 following the conclusion of the 10:15 service. SUMMARY:The 10:21 Contemplative Service
DESCRIPTION:The 10:21 Contemplative Service is back THIS SUNDAY \nPlease note that for this service\, masks are optional for those who are vaccinated. \n\nIt’s a breath of fresh air. \n \nThe 10:21 Contemplative Worship service will regather Sunday\, January 23 in the Music Center. All are welcome\, especially if you have never been to this service before. We will offer refresher training sessions for those who want to serve in the role of Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM)\, Usher\, or Reader.  \nPlease RSVP to The Rev. Jennifer Tucker\, if you are interested in these training or would like more information about the service. No prior experience is necessary to serve.  \nWhy does it start at 10:21am?\nThe 10:21 service coincides with a larger service in our sanctuary which starts at 10:15am. The sermon is given in the sanctuary and streamed into the 10:21 service–and guess what? There is a 6 minute delay before it reaches the music building!
