SUMMARY:Philippians: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times
DESCRIPTION:Philippians: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times\nWith The Rev. Jim Clark \nSundays at 9am | Meets in our Parish Hall and on Z_o_o_m* \nThe brief letter to the Philippians tells the story of a deep affection between Saint Paul and the fledgling Philippian church. Paul heartfully thanks the Philippians for their generous support and devotion to the Gospel even as he tenderly urges them to remain steadfast in their “Gospel citizenship\,” being ever mindful of their unity (“soul-harmony”)\, humility\, generosity\, servanthood\, joy upon joy\, unceasing prayer\, and more. As they do\, they shine as Lights in a troubled world\, and they advance the Gospel. \nWe will engage Philippians following the method of The Art of Engaging Holy Scripture (taehs). Taehs is a lively\, dynamic method of reading\, prayer\, meditation\, study\, and sharing that will immerse you in Saint Paul’s message. You will find yourself experiencing the message and being transformed by the Spirit. \nNo prior experience is needed. All are welcome. \n*Z_o_o_m login info is provided in our weekly email blast. Not on our email list? Subscribe. \nQuestions? Contact The Rev. Robert Berra. \nResources:\nResources for PHILIPPIANS | Week 1 \nLocation: Hutton Hall + Z_o_o_m

SUMMARY:Community of Hope Training
DESCRIPTION:Empowering the Laity for Pastoral Care\n \nDo you feel God calling you into a new ministry to be the hands\, feet\, and listening ears for a broken world?  Are you ready for a new commitment to your faith and in service to others? \nTraining to be a Community of Hope Lay Chaplain\nA 12-week training for Community of Hope lay chaplains begins in October 2022\, and Saint Barnabas is welcoming applications.  \nCommunity of Hope (COH) is a pastoral care model based on Benedictine Spirituality. The program builds a community of caregivers who are united in prayer and worship and shaped by the common practices and ethos of the Rule of Benedict.  \nCOH equips and deploys lay chaplains to meet the varied pastoral needs in the broader community: loss\, grief\, illness\, aging\, life transition\, loneliness\, to name a few. \nThe training modules are a rich time of exploration and team building and will be led by parishioners\, clergy\, and experts in the field. If you’ve been looking for a way to serve at Saint Barnabas\, maybe Community of Hope is for you. Learn More about Community of Hope. \nWhen:  \nFall session:  weekly Oct 13– Nov. 17\, 2022   Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. In Person \nWinter session:  weekly Jan 5- Feb 2\, 2023  Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  In Person  \nHow to Learn More:   \nA completed Safeguarding God’s People volunteer application is required to reserve your spot.
