SUMMARY:Exploring Poetry as a Spiritual Practice | June
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: We will not meet in July and August and will resume our monthly first-Thursday schedule in September.\nExploring Poetry as a Spiritual Practice\nMeets on Google Meet\, First Thursday of every month\, 10:00 – 11:30am\nNot a writing workshop\, not a book club\, we are a circle of poetry lovers into whose midst the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit is invited. Our format is simple: we each share a poem that speaks to us on a spiritual level\, taking turns reading our selections and sharing our reflections. Energizing and uplifting conversations emerge and\, more often than not\, so does a sacred theme that connects our diverse offerings. For more information\, or to join the next meeting\, contact Mary Stone\, 480-993-4507. \n  \nLocation: Google Meet

SUMMARY:Saint Barnabas Arts Camp 2026
DESCRIPTION:  \nALL WEEKS NOW FULL | WAIT LIST FULL\nContact Sarah Imai \n \nSaint Barnabas Arts Camp is an opportunity for kids ages 3 through those entering 6th grade to explore the world of fine arts and creativity with Saint Barnabas where all are welcome. Gently faith-based\, this one-week camp is filled with fun and engaging activities focusing on the creative process. The theme for 2026 is Our Nature. We can all learn a lot from nature\, especially patience. Watching a seed grow into a flower or a tree teaches them that good things take time. Observing animals in their natural rhythm shows that not everything moves fast\, and that waiting and watching quietly can lead to discovery. Nature encourages kids to slow down\, pay attention\, and respect the pace of life—lessons that build patience\, curiosity\, and a sense of wonder. Each camper will experience visual and performing arts as well as culinary arts every morning. \nAGE GROUPS\nPreschool Camp is a self-contained group with their own camp director and attentive staff and volunteers. Preschool campers are 3 and 4 year olds and must be potty trained. We encourage preschool campers to sign up for the morning only. \nCampers entering kindergarten and beyond in fall 2026 participate in the main camp\, which includes a daily lesson and small groups engaging in workshops related to culinary arts\, visual arts and crafts\, and performing arts such as drama\, singing\, and dance. \nJunior Counselors (grades 7-10) need to submit an application and complete a Zoom interview. Junior Counselors (JCs) will participate in a training program prior to camp. JC applications are now closed. Contact Sarah Imai with questions. \nEXTENDED DAY\nSaint Barnabas is excited to announce that\, after the morning Arts Camp\, Future Athletes AZ will be running the extended day program for campers! Your child will have an amazing time staying active with fun group games like capture the flag\, dodgeball\, and other engaging activities. For quieter moments\, Future Athletes staff will also offer a variety of board games and small group games to keep everyone entertained. SUMMARY:Scholarship Sunday 2026
DESCRIPTION:Our Saint Barnabas community has always been committed to nurturing future leaders and young members of our church\, and one way we actively support young individuals’ aspirations is through our scholarship aid program. This initiative aims to empower deserving candidates by providing them with the financial means to pursue higher education and unlock their potential. \nJoin us on Sunday\, June 14\, when we congratulate our youth members: \n\n\n\n\nScholarship Recipients\n\n\n\n \nEvan Vance\nGraduated from Valley Lutheran High School and is attending Clemson University in South Carolina. He is interested in business\, economics\, and finance. Has been a member of Saint Barnabas his whole life. Loves youth group because it gives him an outlet to grow in his faith and be around kids his own age. He is looking forward to college because he is excited to spread his wings and become more independent. He is excited to spread God’s love through interactions with people and to become acquainted with the Clemson community!  \n\n \nRachel Williams\nGraduated from Horizon High School and is attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.  She will be studying Exercise Physiology. She has been a member of Saint Barnabas for five years and has been involved in many areas of our community.  Faith has been a constant rock for her\, helping her share and talk about her faith with others.  She is looking forward to college so she can pursue an education that will eventually lead her to a career that helps people!  \n\n\n\n\nWe will have a reception in the Music Center after the 10:15 service\, so you can meet and greet our scholarship recipients. \n\n\n\n\nEach student is receiving a total of $4\,250.00. \n\n\n\n\n\nJeff Underwood Scholarship ($1\,000.00) \nJeff loved serving as an acolyte\, being part of Sunday school\, and participating in other youth events and activities. Sadly\, Jeff died of\ncancer on January 30\, 2003. Before he died\, Jeff let his parents know that he would like them to encourage and honor youth at Saint Barnabas. In loving memory of their son and out of admiration and respect for the young people at Saint Barnabas\, Jeff’s parents\, Tammy and Jon\, have established this scholarship fund to recognize and honor the young people of Saint Barnabas who\, like Jeff\, loved being part of this community. \n\n\n\n\n\nEpiscopal Church Women Scholarship ($1000.00) \nA group of faithful church women who meet weekly mornings for fellowship and service opportunities. They love their church\, each other\, and for over 30 years have provided college scholarships for our Saint Barnabas Youth.\n\n\n\n\n\nKelly O’Connor Swanson Scholarship ($1000.00)\n\nKelly loved and valued education and died at the young age of 50 in 2014.  In her memory\, a college scholarship will be given to our Saint Barnabas youth on behalf of her mother\, Helen Swanson.\n\n\n\n\n\nDavid Muniz Scholarship ($1000.00)\n\nAnil Coehl is honoring his late husband and hopes this scholarship will bless the recipient as they pursue this next chapter of education.   David was a voice teacher and had a passion for education.  He loved musical theater.  David believed that every student should have the help to pursue their dreams and to use their funds wisely.\n\n\n\n\n\nSaint Barnabas Men’s Group ($250.00)\n\nSaint Barnabas Men’s Bible Study has been a part of the Saint Barnabas community for over 40 years. We meet every Friday morning at 7:30 in the Other Cup for an hour of Bible study\, fellowship\, and donuts.  We have provided funds for many programs in our community\, including local food banks\, Angel Tree\, Bridging Arizona\, and others. The members of the Saint Barnabas Men’s Bible Study are honored to be awarding this scholarship to each of you outstanding young students. They are on the cusp of new frontiers that were not possible during our college years. We know that you are up to the challenge and that your Saint Barnabas family has been a big part of your journey. This scholarship is our way to acknowledge your contributions to our community. God bless you and thank you for your dedication to our community.\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will recognize our scholarship recipients and donors at the 10:15am service and honor their participation in our Saint Barnabas church community\, as well as their dedication to education and serving others. \nContact Kate Fimbres for more information. \nLocation: 6715 N Mockingbird Ln\nScottsdale\, AZ\n85028

SUMMARY:Arts Camp Sunday + Updates!
DESCRIPTION:Arts Camp Sunday & Camp Updates!\nJoin us on Sunday\, June 28 at the 10:15am service for Arts Camp Sunday — a joyful celebration of the creativity and spirit that filled our halls during Saint Barnabas Arts Camp 2026 \nAll campers will be invited to share the treasures they discovered on their journey through music\, drama\, art\, and more. Our service will feature a special performance of our original camp song\, sung by both our adult choir and our campers — a true cross-generational crew! \nCheck out our camp song video with Miss Grace Rogers about the gift of learning patience.\n \nOur Daily Activities | Week 3\nMonday Kick-off! \n🌲✨ Patience was the theme of the day at Arts Camp! \nIn Art\, campers began creating their very own “Patience Pouches.” Our older campers learned basic sewing skills\, while younger campers selected fabrics and decorated with colorful felt. As they continue working on their pouches throughout the week\, they’re discovering an important lesson: good things take time\, and patience and perseverance lead to something meaningful they can be proud of. 🧵👜🎭🎶 During the Performance Workshop\, campers explored either Music or Drama. Drama students brought statues to life through imaginative play\, while Music students learned our camp song about patience in the forest\, along with a fun campfire-style repeat-after-me song. 🍫👩‍🍳 And in Culinary Workshop\, a camp favorite\, campers made delicious mud balls! They chose their ingredients\, mixed them together\, and rolled them into tasty treats that were as fun to make as they were to eat. What a wonderful day of creativity\, learning\, and patience! \n📸 Credit: Emma W. (Junior counselor and content creator \nMiddle of the week: \n🌟 Another wonderful day at Saint Barnabas Arts Camp! 🌟 On Tuesday\, our campers continued exploring the virtue of patience—especially learning to be patient with themselves as they tried new things and grew in confidence. 💚 In Culinary\, campers practiced new chopping skills while preparing fresh fruits and vegetables. 🔪 In Art\, creativity and perseverance were on display as they worked on their patience pouches and learned the basics of sewing. 🧵 In Drama\, laughter filled the room with woodland-themed games and activities—they didn’t want to “leaf”! 🍃😄 In Music\, campers kept the woodland theme going as they learned about rhythm through the fun and energetic Moose Song. 🎵 From creativity to teamwork to discovering new talents\, it was another fun-filled day of learning\, growth\, and adventure! ✨ \n📸 Credit: Lead JC Meredith W. \nWrapping Up an Incredible Camp Season \n🌲✨️⭐️- Thursday at Saint Barnabas Arts Camp was yet another fabulous and fun-filled day!\nToday\, the campers delved deep into what it means to be patient with the unknown\, and what to do while you wait.\n🪡⭐️- In Art\, Campers continued to perfect their “Patience Pouches\,” and even got the\nopportunity to use a sewing machine! Even though sewing can be tricky\, each and every one of the campers used patience to persevere.\n🎵⭐️- In Music\, kids once again sang the song “Rad Ranger Roy” (a very catchy tune)\, while\npartnering up to double the fun! Campers also kept on learning about rhythm by using drums\nand tambourines! It truly was a symphony of music and fun.\n🎭⭐️- Meanwhile\, in Drama\, campers played fun nature-themed games together\, strengthening\nfriendships and bolstering imagination. The immersive Drama Room is truly a wonder to behold!\n🍌⭐️- Campers got to cook up a delectable and tasty treat in Culinary: Banana Pancakes!\nCampers definitely went “bananas” for these flapjacks\, and learned how to cook a perfect pancake.\nOnce again\, the day was filled to the brim with joy and excitement.
