This past weekend, our Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church community came together for a relaxing and fun retreat at Chapel Rock in Prescott, Arizona. Led by the Rev. Robert Berra, this gathering offered participants a chance to reconnect with God, strengthen relationships, and grow as disciples, all in the midst of Prescott’s breathtaking wilderness.

The sense of community was palpable. New friendships were formed, and old ones were nurtured as we shared meals, stories, hikes, a bonfire, and prayers. The weekend embodied the essence of fellowship, reminding us that we are one church family, journeying together in faith.

Participants had time for personal reflection, meditation, and worship. Rev. Robert Berra’s inspiring workshop invited us to contemplate what it means to be disciples of Christ today. In addition to spiritual growth, the retreat offered fun and adventure for all ages, from rope climbing, zip lines, and hikes to creative activities like puzzles and games. It was a time of laughter, teamwork, and shared experiences that will be remembered for years to come.

We had our Sunday worship service in the Newell Center of Chapel Rock. Gathered by the fireplace, the setting was intimate and peaceful. Rev. Robert’s leadership of the service, accompanied by harmonies that filled the room, made the worship feel truly special.

A special thanks go to the incredible staff who helped make this weekend possible: Sarah Petersen, Director of Children’s Ministries, who ensured that the children had engaging and meaningful experiences, and Kate Fimbres, Minister for Youth & Parish Life, whose efforts brought the community together in every detail. Their dedication, along with the support of the entire staff, made this retreat truly special.

One of the highlights was the campfire gathering as we sang songs, told stories, and savored s’mores under the stars.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the time we spent together in faith, fellowship, and fun. We hope you’ll join us next year for another enriching retreat! Let’s continue building memories, strengthening connections, and growing in love and faith as a church family. See you at Chapel Rock 2025!
