Dear Faithful,

On Tuesday, we made remarkable progress at our Habitat build site in Alta Vista as we lifted the roof trusses into place. In recent years, Habitat has adopted the practice of using cranes for this task, prioritizing both efficiency and safety over the traditional method of manual lifting. While crane rentals are a significant investment, the process is now much faster and safer, as evidenced by Tuesday’s swift operation—completed in just two hours, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

This phase marks an exciting milestone as the structure begins to take on the familiar shape of a home. In the coming days, we will install roof decking and begin roofing while continuing work on the interior walls. The progress has been exceptional, thanks in no small part to the dedication of our future homeowners, who join us on-site every day. Both parents are inspiring in their commitment, and their sons share a palpable enthusiasm for building their new home.

For more updates, please visit Sunday’s Habitat table at the Missions Fair. Additionally, we invite you to consider joining us on-site for a Saturday or Tuesday shift; you can sign up at the Habitat volunteer website: https://habitatcaz.volunteerhub.com/vv2/.

Finally, we are excited to share images of the “flying trusses” in action, and we invite you to attend the wall signing ceremony on November 9—a special moment for all involved.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our mission.

With gratitude,
Jay Harris
