With Gratitude…

With grateful hearts, we offer our deep appreciation to Deacon Susie for her unwavering commitment to caring for and coordinating our mission ministries at Saint Barnabas. Her steady leadership, compassion, and faithful presence have shaped how we serve others, near and far. Equally inspiring has been her devotion to pastoral care within our community. Susie’s ministry has touched lives in quiet, meaningful ways, and her example of service continues to guide and encourage us all.

As a tangible expression of our gratitude, we are collecting a purse in her honor. Please click the button below and select “Deacon Susie Parker’s Purse” from the donation options.

Susie and her husband, Hank, joined Saint Barnabas in the spring of 2004. She has served as an usher, lay reader, Hearts and Hands committee member, Missions Coordinating Committee Chairperson, and Junior Warden prior to her discernment of the diaconate. Susie was ordained in 2017 by Bishop Kirk Smith. Since ordination, she has been the clergy shepherd of Missions and Outreach here at Saint Barnabas. Susie has served on the faculty of our Diocesan Deacon Formation Academy since 2019.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve Saint Barnabas and the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona these 8 plus years. Bishop Reddall has blessed my status as an Active Retired Deacon. This means that I can still serve as a Deacon in the capacity as needed and as I choose. I will be stepping back from attendance at Saint Barnabas for several months. Although you won’t see me here at church, I want you all to know I will carry you in my heart and in my prayers. Each of you have been a blessing to me and have raised me up as a Deacon. I will miss you and I love you all. –The Rev. Susie Parker, Deacon
