At Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church, we believe that the stories we tell shape the legacy we leave. Recently, our community gathered for a meaningful and interactive program titled “Family Legacy through Storytelling”. This event invited participants to reflect on their own faith journeys and learn practical ways to share those experiences with loved ones.

Why Storytelling Matters

When children and grandchildren ask questions about belief, values, or faith experiences, it can be challenging to know how to respond. This workshop provided tools to help individuals communicate those deep parts of their spiritual life authentically and confidently. The aim was simple yet powerful: to help families create a lasting legacy grounded in shared stories of faith.

Guided by Experienced Storytellers

Led by a thoughtful panel, moderated by Mary Endorf, a researcher studying how families use stories to shape their beliefs. She was joined by Linda Hefter, Docent Trainer at the Heard Museum, and Sarah Petersen, Director of Children’s Ministry at Saint Barnabas. Together, they offered wisdom on how storytelling can bridge generations, nurture connection, and spark meaningful conversations about belief.
