Hair, Paint, and Play: A Messy Arts Celebration

This year’s Messy Arts All-Parish Picnic was once again a joyful celebration of creativity, connection, and a little bit of colorful chaos. With the weather shifting our plans, many of the festivities moved indoors, but that only added to the fun as Hutton Hall and other spaces came alive with activity and laughter.

One of the most memorable transformations took place at The Other Cup, which turned into a full-on hair salon for the afternoon. Bright colors, bold styles, and plenty of creativity were on display as participants of all ages embraced some truly fun and fearless looks.

Face painting found a new home on the foresty stage in Hutton Hall, where both children and adults lined up to join in the fun. It was a delight to see so many proudly wearing their designs throughout the day, adding even more color to the celebration.

Hutton Hall also hosted a variety of hands-on art stations, including candle-making, parrot puppet crafting, and play-dough sculpture-making. Each space invited imagination to take the lead, giving everyone a chance to create something unique to take home.

Out at the Ramada, more crafting activities kept the energy going, while the picnic itself featured hamburgers, hot dogs, and a spread of treats that brought everyone together around the table.

All in all, it was a vibrant and meaningful afternoon where our parish community gathered, created, shared a meal, and simply enjoyed being together.

In addition to these new attractions, the event welcomed back a roster of perennial favorites, including Paint the Staff, limited to one: “Paint Chris Falkenstein“; Spaghetti brush Art, among others.

Here are a few highlights from the event. (A big thank you to Scott Williams & Dina Horsman for these images below)
