Saint Barnabas marked World Labyrinth Day on Saturday, May 2, with a meaningful and well-coordinated gathering rooted in prayer and presence. Guided by the Contemplative Life Ministries Team, the day came together through the leadership of Diane and Chuck Neal, Tom and Ann Hott, Rev. Jennifer Tucker, and a dedicated team of volunteers who helped shape a welcoming and reflective experience for all who attended. Special thanks to Kristin Weldy and Nick Bratcher, of the Saint Barnabas Young Adults, who coordinated this year’s craft. We were also grateful to have The Rev. Robyn M. Neville there to warmly welcome those who gathered. The labyrinth walk was gently carried by the beautiful sound of Jenn Steege’s Native American flute, creating a calm and meditative atmosphere across the campus. Special thanks as well to Ron Steege for helping make that musical offering possible. Throughout the morning, there were quiet spaces to sit, reflect, and simply be still.
Observed each year on the first Saturday in May, World Labyrinth Day connects communities around the world in a shared act of walking and prayer. At Saint Barnabas, we joined that wider movement, stepping onto the path together in a spirit of unity and peace. The labyrinth continues to be a meaningful part of our spiritual life here, offering a place for reflection not just on special days, but throughout the year.
People of all ages took part, moving at their own pace along the winding path, many in silence, holding personal prayers and intentions. It was a simple yet powerful reminder of connection, both with one another and with those around the world walking the same path in the same spirit.
At Saint Barnabas, “All are welcome” is something we live out in moments like these. The labyrinth remains open to anyone seeking a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect. Whether during an event like this or on a quiet day of your own, the invitation is always there.
