Monthly Taizé worship at Saint Barnabas on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. | Sanctuary
Experience the serenity of Taizé worship, a meditative gathering inspired by the renowned Taizé community in France. Join us for a liturgy infused with the songs from Taizé, accompanied by scriptures, periods of silence, and prayers. Taizé-style liturgy provides the opportunity for a tranquil and serene worship experience.
Taizé worship traces its origins to the Taizé Community, an ecumenical monastic community founded in 1940 in Taizé, France, by Brother Roger Schutz. Known for its emphasis on reconciliation, simplicity, and communal prayer, the Taizé tradition has become a model for contemplative worship around the world.
At Saint Barnabas, Taizé worship is embraced as a way to deepen the contemplative life central to the Episcopal tradition—one that balances scripture, silence, and song to create space for personal reflection and communal spiritual growth. The meditative chants, repeated prayers, and periods of quiet invite participants to slow down, listen for God’s presence, and join together in a shared rhythm of prayer and praise. Through this practice, our parish nurtures both individual contemplation and the life of our community, offering a space to encounter God in stillness and in fellowship.
