The Rev. Robert Berra

Associate Rector and Chief of Staff

Robert joined the staff of Saint Barnabas in 2018. Before his ministry at Saint Barnabas, he served as a campus chaplain and faculty member at Arizona State University. Robert left organized religion in his teenage years. After a period of wavering between agnosticism and Deism, he returned to Christianity and was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in his mid-twenties. He considers his time outside of the church to be a gift from God; and that time informs Robert’s desire to bring people into a meaningful relationship with a loving God and into communion with a community mirroring the love of Jesus. Both natives of Mobile, Alabama, Robert and his spouse Laura were married in 2008 and have a son, Colin. Together, they can often be found bicycling or walking their dog around Tempe’s University Park neighborhood. Email Robert Berra. or call 480-355-9751.

The Rev. Dan Burner

Rev. Dan brings with him a wealth of ministry experience, having served in various capacities, most recently as the Interim Rector of All Saints’ Phoenix. His background in both pastoral care and professional expertise makes him a valuable addition to our community.

After earning his Master in Divinity program in residence from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Dan was ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of California at Grace Cathedral San Francisco and served at historic All Saints in that city. He also served as Rector at St. Mark’s Penn Yan in New York. Before seminary, he had two careers; initially with 17 years in human resource management across a variety of industries, and another in finance and marketing.

Dan was born in Ohio and raised in Phoenix. He graduated from Northern Arizona University. He enjoys sailing and other outdoor activities. He lives in Tempe with his partner, the Rev. Dr. Dessórdi (Sam) Leite, and has two married daughters and four grandchildren.  Email Dan Burner. or call 480-355-9755.
