Blessing | Sunday, August 2, at the 10:15 am service in the Sanctuary

As a new school year begins, we invite you to bring your backpacks, lunch boxes, and tote bags to receive a special blessing during worship.

Following the service, join us in Hutton Hall as we write messages of hope and encouragement. Together we’ll create greeting cards for students receiving backpacks through our Mexico Medical Mission and for members of our Saint Barnabas family who are homebound or grieving. This simple act of kindness is a meaningful way to begin the school year by sharing God’s love with neighbors both near and far.

All ages are welcome. Cards, art supplies, and an enhanced coffee hour will be provided.

Infant and toddler nursery will be available in The Children’s Center. For Saint Barnabas family registration, click here.

Prayer

God of Wisdom, as we begin another school year I pause to ask for your blessing on all aspects of my life. I give you thanks for my school, my teachers, and my friends. I am grateful for pencils, crayons, notebooks, and for your gift of learning. Bless us all with curiosity, understanding, and respect. And bless my teachers, who support and encourage me and my friends. In this time of new beginnings, I ask your blessing on all of us learning how to learn online and outside our usual classrooms, and a blessing on the many devices we use to connect with our neighbors in a changing world. All this I ask in the name of Jesus, who as a child in the temple showed his longing to learn about you, and as an adult taught by story and example your great love for us. Amen
